Importance of 76th Republic Day
India gained independence on August 15, 1947, but it didn’t have its own set of laws or constitution right away hence the country was governed by British laws.
India has its own socio-economic as well as demographic issues , hence our constitution makers were drafting something that would truly represent India’s democratic idea and represent every strata of the society.
After series of debates , discussions & considerations It was on January 26th 1950, that India officially became a republic and its Constitution came into force and hence India became a Republic nation.
Why the Analysis of 76th Republic Day is important?
The themes of the 76th Republic Day 2025 are: “Swarnim Bharat – Virasat aur Vikas” (Golden India – Heritage and Development).
This theme is in the line with the vision that ‘India is truly a mother of democracy.’
In this line to showcase the cultural heritage and tourism potential of states “Bharat Parv” was organized at Red Fort from January 26 to 31, 2025.
This event featured cultural performances, handicraft exhibitions, and culinary delights, offering a platform for states and Union Territories to showcase their cultural heritage and tourism potential.
These elements combined to make the 76th Republic Day a memorable event, celebrating India’s heritage and progress on the global stage.
This Republic day we witnessed some of cutting-edge defence platforms including BrahMos, Pinaka and Akash, with the Army's Battle Surveillance System 'Sanjay' and DRDO's surface-to-surface tactical missile 'Pralay' set to register their presence in the ceremonial parade for the first time.
As the Indonesia’s President, Prabowo Subianto, is the chief guest for Republic Day 2025. His visit strengthens India-Indonesia ties, particularly in defence and maritime security. The partnership reflects growing strategic cooperation, bolstered by agreements such as the 'Shared Vision on Maritime Cooperation in the Indo-Pacific.'
An interesting thing to know that - 75 years ago on our first Republic Day in 1950, we had the President Sukarno of Indonesia as the Chief Guest. This is a reflection of the long-standing ties and strong democratic tradition between our two countries
Appreciation of Project “Veer Gatha 4.0”- Project ‘Veer Gatha 4.0’, a joint initiative by the Ministry of Defence and the Ministry of Education.
This Project encouraged students to write essays and paragraphs about Gallantry Award recipients, freedom fighters like Rani Laxmibai, the 1857 First War of Independence, and Tribal Uprisings in India’s Freedom Struggle.
The initiative aimed to deepen students’ understanding of India’s cultural and historical heritage.
Morover On Republic Day, the President of India confers military awards like the Paramvir Chakra and Vir Chakra to honor the bravery of soldiers.
